At least 18 diffrerent savanna types (of which 16 are not included in any national parks), as well as 7 nationally threatened ecosystems such as sandstone heaths and monsoon rainforest pockets.
MANAGEMENT PRIORITIES
Management priorities include establishment of infrastructure, control of feral donkeys, control of weeds, fire management and biological surveys and monitoring.

Marion Downs is of extraordinary conservation value, occupying a strategically significant position in the Kimberley landscape. Its acquisition for conservation will significantly increase the level of reservation in the Central Kimberley bioregion. This bioregion is listed by the Australian Government as being of very high priority for conservation.
