Area and Location
Mt Gibson Sanctuary
Mt Gibson Sanctuary covers over 130,500 ha of the Avon Wheatbelt Bioregion within the shires of Dalwallinu and Yalgoo. The property is a pastoral lease comprising largely pristine, semi-arid ecosystems. Mt Gibson is located at the southern margin of the uncleared rangeland country, providing a dramatic contrast to the expansive monocultures of the adjacent “wheatbelt” of Western Australia.
Mt Gibson Sanctuary is located about 350 km north-east of Perth, and is accessed via the Great Northern Hwy between Wubin and Paynes Find. The homestead is 30 km east of the highway, and the turnoff is 70 km north of Wubin. The nearest major town is Dalwallinu.
