Landscape Context

Newhaven Sanctuary extends for approximately 80 km in the east-west direction and 35 km north-south.

The Sanctuary is bounded to the west and north by the Yunkanjini Aboriginal Land Trust, and to the south by the Haasts Bluff Aboriginal Land Trust. The property to the east, Central Mount Wedge, is owned by the Ngalurrtju Aboriginal Land Trust. There are no active pastoral leases adjoining Newhaven, and few fences. Wandering stock are much less of a problem than wandering feral animals, such as camels.
