What did you do before AWC?
I was an ecology intern at AWC’s Mt Gibson sanctuary. Prior to that I conducted research on honey possums in the heath/woodlands of Torndirrup Peninsula; Volunteered extensively on biological research projects; and have worked at an English school, in a book shop, on a farm, and as a koala keeper.
Favourite animal protected by AWC
I can’t choose just one, but I think Boodies might be my spirit animal.
Favourite place on an AWC sanctuary
The York and Salmon Gum woodlands bathed in golden afternoon light at Mt Gibson are breathtaking.
Top three animals you would like to see (or have seen) in the wild
While I’d love to see a giant squid, gorilla or sloth, nothing can describe how special it is to see species that were extirpated from mainland Australia thriving in sanctuaries like AWC’s.
If you could visit any three places on the planet
Sir Bani Yas Island, Amazon rainforest or Galapagos and Iriomote Island.
Other interesting stuff
I’m a tragic foodie and am aiming to complete the ‘1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die’ challenge.
