Bequests

Leaving a part of your estate to a charity is referred to as a bequest.

Making a bequest to benefit a cause close to your heart is a wonderful way to ensure your wishes today are carried out well into the future. In particular, a bequest to AWC will help protect Australia’s wildlife for future generations.

A bequest to AWC could be used to help purchase a new sanctaury, to reintroduce an endangered species such as the Bilby or to assist in the long-term management of AWC reserves.

We suggest that you seek advice from a solicitor when drafting your will as the wording is very important. Your solicitor will give you details of the different types of bequests and can explain what they may mean for you and your family.

As a guide, some types of bequests that you may choose to leave to AWC are:

  • A specific sum of money;
  • A specific gift of property, such as real estate, shares or insurance policies;
  • A percentage of your estate; or
  • A residual bequest i.e. whatever is left after all other gifts to family and friends have been deducted from your estate.

Bequests to AWC are now exempt from capital gains tax!

We are grateful to you for considering making a bequest to AWC. We know that it is a private matter but we hope you will let us know if you have included us in your future plans. Please be assured we will treat your bequest with the utmost confidentiality.

Please contact us if you would like us to send you more information or if you have any other questions regarding bequests.
