Buckaringa Sanctuary - Programs
|
 Buckaringa sanctuary
| The primary management objective at Buckaringa is the protection of the Yellow-footed Rock Wallaby. To this end there is an active fox and goat eradication program, and access to the cliffs by rock climbers has been prevented. Natural flows of the existing streamlines, which have previously been impeded, are being restored, and natural springs, which provided water to the rock wallaby colonies, are being rehabilitated.
As little is known of the fauna and flora of Buckaringa there is an extensive survey and monitoring program. This is combined with a program to map the vegetation communities of the Sanctuary.
Regeneration of the alluvial flats will be undertaken in the longer term.
