Weed control at Buckaringa
Creeping Wheel Cactus is the most significant weed on Buckaringa. It has been mapped and treated by herbicide injection across the entire sanctuary. More than 5000 individual plants have been treated during this program. Now management of cactus involves the monitoring and treatment of regrowth and seedlings.
Previously, AWC staff and volunteers have successfully eradicated European Boxthorn, Pepper Tree and Wild Tobacco.
There are a number of other significant weed species also being mapped and treated.
