Weed control at Curramore
54 weed species are recognised, with Lantana being the most serious of these.
AWC staff implement a dedicated weed control program under which Lantana (and other weed species) are killed with appropriate herbicides and/or removed by hand. Lantana is treated with glyphosate herbicide and either burnt (where the aim is to restore open forest) or mulched to encourage recruitment of rainforest species. In 2013, Lantana was substantially removed across 17.5 hectares.
