Weed control at Faure Island
One of the legacies of the pastoral era on Faure Island was the introduction of a suite of weeds.
The most significant weed on Faure Island is Buffel Grass, which is found across 35% of the island. Other priority weeds include Lupins, Boxthorn and four other pasture grasses. Control measures involve a targeted herbicide spraying program which has resulted in a substantial reduction in the extent of Lupin and Boxthorn. Buffel Grass is strategically sprayed in order to minimise its spread across the island.
