Feral herbivore control at Piccaninny Plains
Feral horses, cattle and pigs are the major feral herbivores on Piccaninny Plains. AWC is taking action to reduce the density of feral herbivores through:
- An annual program of mustering and shooting, combined with strategic boundary fencing to limit reinvasion and trapping of pigs.
- Dedicated fencing around high priority wetlands to reduce feral pig impacts.
In 2014, AWC removed 1205 large feral herbivores (horses, cattle and pigs).
