Curramore Sanctuary - Wildlife
Richmond Birdwing Butterfly – Curramore Sanctuary
No detailed fauna surveys have been carried out on the property, and the completion of one is a high priority. A preliminary assessment of the property was carried out by Greg Czechura of the Queensland Museum in March 2003, for the Caloundra City Council. Mr Czechura has also conducted casual surveys of the property and adjacent areas over an 18 year period.
The rainforest fauna of the property was described as typical of that found throughout the Blackall-Conondale Ranges, although it was acknowledged that a number of common mammal species have yet to be recorded there. This is likely to reflect a lack of detailed sampling. The habitat was judged to be capable of supporting some of the less common gliders, bats, native mice, as well as the Long-nosed Potoroo.
