In this edition of Wildlife Matters – perhaps one of the most important to date – we celebrate Australian Wildlife Conservancy’s (AWC) newest partnership and a giant leap forward for conservation. The AWC–North Australian Pastoral Company partnership is a strategic collaboration. Almost half of the Australian mainland is leased for pastoral use and a cross-sector approach is crucial for delivering biodiversity benefits.
This edition also covers AWC’s ‘ready for anything’ approach to climate change; a scaling up of the wildlife survey program at Yampi Sound Training Area, delivered in partnership with Yampi’s Traditional Owners the Dambimangari People, and the Department of Defence; how technology and data are continuing to improve the accuracy and efficiency of monitoring and management programs; and exciting updates on AWC’s ambitious reintroduction program.
‘The year ahead is set to be an extraordinary one for AWC and the threatened wildlife and landscapes we protect.’ – Tim Allard
